Flame
retardant fabrics are used wherever flammability safety standards
have to be adhered to. Curtain and drapery fabrics compliant with
BS5867 Part 2 Type B are standard for theatres, schools, hospitals
and venues where public safety is an issue. Russell & Chapple
specialises in these scenic fabrics and we can supply extra wide fabrics
for backdrops, projection screens and cycloramas. Non-Durably Flame Retardant (NDFR) Water-soluble flame retardant solution. Imparts a flame resistant finish, which corresponds to BS5867 Part II Type B (drapes and curtains). Fabrics treated with this solution should not be wetted as this will prejudice their flame retardant properties. Re-treatment is recommended if this occurs. NDFR treated fabrics may resist a small number of water-free dry cleaning cycles (Normally up to four). Durably Flame Retardant (DFR) These fabrics are treated with a flame retardant solution that will resist a number of washes. Inherently Flame Retardant (IFR) These fabrics are woven with a high percentage of flame retardant fibres and will remain flame retardant. |
