Bronze Powder Bronze powder is finely powdered zinc and copper that is processed to provide brilliant gold effects without the high cost of gold leaf. When mixed it produces a dense, highly pigmented paint, highly effective in decorative paintwork. Ormoline paint is bronze powder mixed with cellulose varnish base to form a hard-wearing paint film.
Use Bronze powders can be mixed with various mediums to produce gold paint. The most commonly used medium is shellac varnish. Once dry, the paint must always be sealed to prevent tarnishing. Bronze powder is most suited for interior applications and will eventually darken with age. For exterior gilding effects we would recommend using gold leaf.
Silver Powder It is now available in granules and must be mixed with a spirit based medium, such as polyurethane varnish. If a water mixable silver powder is required use Bright Silver Powder.
