Metal leaf is sold in book form, with 25 140 mm x 140 mm sheets per book. Each book contains 0.5 sq metre of metal leaf. The leaf is sold ‘transfer’, with a paper backing for easier handling. Lose leaf is available to order, if required. Metal leaf will oxidise is left untreated, so it should be varnished with shellac or Ormoline Sealer. Roberson Oil Gold Size 3 Hour

For use with (Schlag) metal leaf, gold leaf and bronze powders. Use over any non-absorbent painted surface, canvas, panel, wall, glass or metal. If the surface is absorbent as with gesso, seal using Roberson shellac varnish. Size is ready when Sellotape tackiness is reached. Apply the leaf using absorbent cotton.
